A thought filled day...

Its Monday today, the ocean is cranky, the wind is crazy, and the rain feels cold on your face when you walk outside.  The weather has such influence on a persons mood.  I'm not saying I'm cranky today, nope, not at all.  Just thinking.  Today is the kind of day for ideas, sketches, research.  Hot tea, sweat pants and slippers.
On Saturday, I took a Toni day in the hotshop.  I told my dad who was assisting me at the time I was not going to blow one ball, ruffle bowl or make a paper weight.  No way, no how.  I was feeling creative.  We experimented.  And for the first time since I was at school I felt no guilt in taking one of these days to myself to see what would happen, and the results were rewarding.  Sunday morning when I opened the annealer door, I was happy.  I was back.  I took some pictures to share with you... I had no expectations, and when you sit down at the bench with none... theres never any disappointment.  I think I might have figured out a way to take my 'Flashing' pieces to the next level.  Or perhaps a new series altogether.  Enjoy your Monday!

So this Sunday on our day away from TLG, Victoria and I found ourselves on the road down to Duncan to experience the most amazing cupcakes.  I must say the peanut butter one was my favorite!  If you're passing through Duncan you must stop in for one or six at Twisted Sifters.

We love Tuesdays!

Holy busy studio today! Jesse and Toni had the hotshop going, pumping out ruffle bowls for the upcoming sales.  Sue was on the torches practicing her boro skills while Toni T. loaded up the kilns, and Victoria was in the back cutting out angels.  A productive day is a good day at TLG.
The surprise party was a hit, everything was awesome, the flowers were beautiful, food was fantastic, and the decorations were great.  Nanny was surprised to say the least! High five to Victoria.  Maybe she should have been a party planner... mind you shes a pretty good glass artist so I don't know.
We are back to regular business hours, 9am - 4pm Monday - Friday.  Saturdays 10am - 4pm.  And closed on Sundays.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tide Line Gallery is closed Monday October 11!  See you Tuesday!

Sand makes everything all better

I love glass there is no doubt about that and its funny because the first time I sandcasted I didnt like it.  I didnt like the sticky sand on my hands.  I had sand everywhere.  In my shoes, in my pant pockets... and I thought who would love this!?
Well.  I do.  I love the texture that can only be achieved with sand.  During my interwebing surf I came across this peice...  thought Id share with you.

Taking the weekend off

So TLG is locking the doors at noon today... why? Because we are tired.  Because we are throwing a surprise 75th birthday party.  And because we want to spend the weekend with our family.  So! Friday afternoon TLG is closed.  Saturday we are closed.  Sunday guess what? Closed.  And Monday... yep you guessed it, closed.
We will be here well rested with a fresh creative outlook on our faces on Tuesday, just in time to take us through to the Christmas holidays! Reminder for those interested in "A Fine Line" show... email us for an application!
Stained Glass Classes are starting up again soon... email, call or hey even drop in to sign up.  Snow Flakes in three hours... five spots left.
There are some snowflakes made up and on display in the gallery.  Some new Christmas balls aswell.  And a new product almost ready for you to see too! So stay tuned.
Have a great weekend all!

October already!

One wouldn't think its fall with the warm weather we have been experiencing.  My favorite season is fall, I think its the colors.  So whats happening at the Tide Line studio? Preparing for Christmas.  Recovering from summer.  Come November we will be on the road again every weekend until Christmas.  Go Tide Line Go!

Quick reminder, "A Fine Line" a show hosted at the Maritime Heritage Center application forms are at the studio for those interested.  Application deadline is November 1, 2010.

Classes.  What a good turn out.  I was excited at the response.  The snowflakes in three hours is by far the most popular.  Still some room in the November 17, and 24 classes.  Those are Wednesday evenings 5-8pm.
Whats new? Theres some new .925 jewellery on display.  And some tree decorations are already out as well.  And some new optic mold 'Christmas/friendship/tidal' balls in some new color mixes.

Fall store hours are in place now too, open Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm.  Saturdays 10am - 4pm.  And Sundays and holidays we are closed!

Please note that Tide Line Gallery will be closed at 1pm on Friday October 8, closed Saturday the 9th, and Sunday the 10th.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
